Give the latest episode a listen:

Here’s the demonstration from Ignite 2023 that James and I are going completely nuts over:

I am 100% enamored of generative AI. I know that there are hand-wavy things going on in demonstrations. I know you run into hallucinations and weird edge cases. I get it.

It’s just…it doesn’t matter that you can’t always coax a perfect answer from a large language model like GPT-4 (underpinning Copilot). For me, that’s not the point. JUST GET STARTED. For written language or computer code tasks, you now have a thing that speaks most languages in most environments, even if imperfectly. Large language models are the bridges between the iterative phases of your nascent idea. Collaborate with them toward a continuously refined, better and better version of a finished work product.

The Copilot stuff that Charles demonstrates in the above video is prime bridge-building. The data, systems, and processes that Copilot mixes in are the raw materials for the bridge. Our episode is freaking out about this because the hand-crafting that we’ve had to do in past projects is starting to seem irrelevant.

No, the old ways are not done. They will remain relevant for a long time. But that doesn’t mean we still have to do everything within those same boundaries.

Hallucinations aren’t bad when they’re creative!
